Our story

Meet the People Behind Istmo Caregivers in Panama

Care You Can Trust. From People Who Know Panama.

Maybe you chose to grow older in Panama, on your own terms. Or maybe you're far away — in the US, Canada, Europe, or elsewhere — making sure someone you love here is safe and genuinely cared for.

Either way, finding the right caregiver can feel overwhelming. Who can you trust in your home? Who will actually show up, treat your loved one with dignity, and be there if something goes wrong?

We understand, because we've lived in Panama for over 22 years — building businesses, leading teams, and serving this community. For more than 10 years, we've run Istmo Retreat & Adventures, learning firsthand what it means to be responsible for someone's safety and well-being.

That experience led us to create Istmo Caregivers — because good caregiving means more than daily tasks. It means safety, dignity, companionship, and peace of mind, for the person receiving care and the family who loves them.

But good intentions aren't enough. Trustworthy care needs the right people and the right systems behind them — which is why every caregiver completes the Istmo Caregivers Certification Program: in-house training in hands-on care, safety, first aid, and professional standards, plus screening and reference checks before anyone works with a client.

Our founders bring complementary experience to that mission.

Sean Davis

Founder & Director of Operations

Sean Davis brings more than 20 years of experience building and leading organizations in Panama. He spent seven years as Founding Director of Magen David Academy, an international K–12 school he helped build from the ground up, from campus design to earning full international accreditation. Before that, he coordinated conservation education across Latin America for the Peregrine Fund, served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Chile, and taught in classrooms across Panama, Colombia, and the U.S.

That same attention to people - what they need to feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for - is what led him to caregiving. Sean is a certified EMT and a trained caregiver himself.

Ayesha Davis

Founder, Business & Operations Systems

Ayesha Davis brings a background in engineering, project management, business operations, and systems design, with experience building the infrastructure that allows complex, people-centered organizations to operate reliably.

Together, we built Istmo Caregivers around a simple belief:

"The people you trust with your loved one should be supported by a company you can trust, too."

Here's the team behind that commitment.
